Personal | Visiting My Hometown
A rare, yet sweet occasion to share a bit more of my personal side. I grew up in southern California, and stayed there until I uprooted myself to settle in the San Francisco Bay Area. Not too long ago, my parents decided to move from our home of over 20 years to a house just a few streets away. Since it is so close to our old house, the nostalgic feeling of home was different, but not completely foreign. Now when my husband and I visit, one new routine my parents and I do is wander through their garden that houses dozens of fruits, vegetables, and foliage. My father often shows me his homegrown, seasonal fruit with pride, after spending hours out in the sun toiling to see them grow to maturation. In this new home, it is something I now always look forward to when spending time with my parents.
